If you have read my previous post, you will remember we had bacon left over. This can only mean it is turnover time.
What Is A Turnover?
A turnover is a pastry. Take a square of puff pastry, turn two corners in so they overlap, you have a turnover! Right, you now know what a turnover is, let’s make some.
When I made the picnic pie, I had bacon left over, You can use anything you like really, I have seen people use fruit so the options really are endless.
First of all, preheat the oven to 190 degrees. Roll out a pack of puff pastry, slice it in half lengthways and then into 3 width ways. You don’t have to be precise, its a pastry.
place the filling in the middle of the square diagonally. Turn the corners in. Stick the corners to each other with an egg wash and then egg wash the rest of the pastry.
Pop them on a tray and cook for 15 minutes or until golden.
I made bacon and bean, bacon and cheese, bacon and sausage and of course, bacon sausage and cheese.
These delicious breakfast bites are perfect for chilly mornings and even lunch. I would love to see turnovers you have made so do please show me. If you didn’t read about picnic pie then take a look here.
